LEST WE FORGET! For Remembrance Day as a class we read our new poem for the week which is about a poppy. We all recieved our poppies to wear and we talked about why we do this. In class we had our own two minutes of silence and thanked all of those to fought for us throughout the years to keep Canada safe and free. Thank you to our special guests ...

This week the students were really focused on healthy eating. We talked about the Canada food guide and all the foods that fit into the different food groups. We will be continuing to explore this subject and talk about it in class. The students are also working on our new classroom book. We create a book a week as a class and this week we wrote about our favourite letter of the alphabet and then wrote a word to go along with that letter. They students really en...

Halloween is a very special time, especially when you are in Kindergarten. All the students are invited to bring their costumes to school with them for our costume parade on Halloween morning. We ask that you also send a plastic bag for them to bring their costumes home in as we do not want to be wearing them all day (we would hate for something to happen to them before Halloween night). The students all had a wonderful time at Rounds Ranch. The students got to participate in an interactive story about how a pumpkin grows from a seed into a large pumpkin ready to be picked in the pumpkin patch. They also go to enjoy the hands on experiences in the pumpkin lab where they got to measure the weight, explore the insides of a pumpkin, organize the pumpkins by size and label the parts of a pumpkin. This week our big themed focus is on pumpkins and Halloween. The students have done pumpkin experiments, created "Ghostbuster the wacky haired ghost" for our school spirt activity as well as carved our pumpkin from Rounds Ranch. We also wrote wonderful recount stories about our adventures at Rounds Ranch. Tomorrow is going to be an exciting day with our Halloween festivities :). Yesterday we had a milk presentation. We learned about healthy things to eat/drink that are made from milk. The students had the opportunity to participate in some activities to build their awareness of milk and milk products. All students were also given a milk pencil to take home. ![]()

:)We have really be working hard on printing our numbers from 1 to 5 this week. We are continuing to make groups of numbers up to 5 and talk about how some groups have more or less than another group. We are also jumping full into the swing of Halloween. The students have been writing Halloween stories, talking about Halloween read alouds and writing with some Halloween sight words. This week we are focusing on pumpkins. We are talking about what they look like, feel like, the shapes they might take and the different ways to carve a pumpkin. We are also continuing to work on our letters and their sounds. By the end of this week we will have worked up to the letter "Gg". All the students have now recieved their permission forms for our upcoming field trip to Rounds Ranch. Please be sure to sign the permission forms and send them back to school along with $10.00 as soon as possible. The students will be learning a great deal about pumpkins leading up to this fantastic experience.
