The month of April seemed to fly by. May is going to be a busy month filled with lots of learning, and wonderful experiences for the students. We have wonderful events such as Walk across Canada, Music Mania, a field trip to Duntron Highlands and all kinds of classroom activities coming up. Be sure to check the calendar to find out when these events are taking place.
In our math class this month we are going to be focusing on patterning, telling time and money. In patterning we will be working on finding, extending, naming and creating complex patterns. For time we will be looking at sequencing of events, introducing students to the clock and how to tell time to the hour and half hour. For money we will be looking at all the coins we have in our Canadian currency and learning their names, what makes them special and different from one another and how much they are each worth.
In our language time we are continuing to work on being authors and illustrators. The Sk's have been working very hard on adding details to both their picutures and words. They have also been making sure to use finger spaces, stretch their words to hear all the sounds and write with several sentences. They are beginning to reread their work to make sure their sentences make sense. The Jk's have been working hard on making sure their pictures match their stories, they have also been working on using word wall words to create a sentence. They are beginning to use their sounds to write words they are unsure of. Keep up the great job Kindergartens!!
